I bought a Single Point scope in the late 70's at a gun show in Killeen, TX. I mounted it on my AR-180 which, just for fun, I took to the field and range instead of my issue M-16. It was an occluded eye design which means you could not see through it. It was designed to be used with both eyes open - one eye would see the red dot while the other eye looked at the target. Binocular vision then put the two images together. It was very fast. The red dot was powered by a radioactive isotope and I think it also used an early version of fiber optic much like the Trijicons of today.
I sold it along with the AR-180 years ago.
