Best Gen 1 for security & surveillance

Hi,

I live in a farm with my family, and we're experiencing some kind of trouble related to security. Using a flashlight, will just make things get dangerous to me.. so the ideal solution for surveillance is a night vision.
I need to patrol an area of 300m² around my house and warehouses, surrounded by open fields in one side, and coffee plantation on the other.

I'm looking for something that allows me to see at good distance in a clear or cloudy dark night, good battery life, good resolution, hands free.. something with a headset.. the best I can get from a Gen 1 night vision goggles

The problem is money.. I just can afford Gen 1 prices.

Hi,

I would recommend the Bushnell 1x20 Night Vision goggles. They are easy to use, and the headgear is quick and easy to adjust. All Gen 1 Night Vision units will have a "fishbowl" effect when you look through them, so don't be too expectant of a clear sharp view.

Another option, if you were willing to go with a handheld monocular, is the Yukon Digital Night Ranger. This Digital unit will give Gen 2 - Gen 3 type image quality and range at the price of a Gen 1 unit.

well, as I can see they also have a headmount for the yukon.. so I think I'll go for that!

Hi,

You would not be able to use this headgear with the Night Ranger. The NVMT Head Mount is only compatible with the NVMT series night vision. The Digital Night Ranger is too big for this head mount.

Yeah, I just realized that when I called for information.. thanks for the information!!

As I need to be hands free for the job, I'm thinking about get one Yukon NVMT Night Vision Multitask 1x24mm Goggle w/ Head Gear Kit, or one Yukon Viking 1x24 Night Vision Goggle Kit.

And also, I'd like to know if I attach one of these Yukon NVMT Infra Red Flashlight to a shotgun, It could work like a "tactical flashlight" to the night vision??

Something like.. turning "OFF" the NV IR, using the IR flashlight attached to the shotgun would work giving me an idea of target. Is it possible? Because it would be great for pest control function also!

I personally like the Yukon NVMT Night Vision Multitask 1x24mm Goggle with HeadGear Kit for its versatility. You can also convert this to a riflescope using the NVMT Riflescope Conversion Kit.

The IR Flashlight is a good idea to help increase the useful range of the night vision monocular.

Yes, the NVMT replacement magnifying lenses should be a direct replacement for all NVMT except for the "Sea Wolf" waterproof monocular. This would compromise its waterproof integrity.
