Like how far will the IR illuminator go and be effective?
Is there much geometric distortion?
How does the image conpare to other similar priced units?
Is it supposed to be gen 1 or 1+?
Any other suggestions for less then $200 high FOV?

Hi
Don't get too excited about an IR illuminator. Originally, they were added to NV units to help read maps and other close range objects. At less than 1 W of power, you don't have a lot of output. (A dim reading light bulb is, after all, 25 watts). Think of these in terms of a small penlight flashlight and you will get a better idea for their effectiveness. The IR won't add significantly to the maximum range (despite manufacturer claims), but they are useful for close-in work.
The Yukon is listed as a Gen 1 with a resolution rating of 36 lpm. Some would ccall this a Gen 1 and some a Gen1+. Since there is no standardization for Gen 1, take your pick. _________________ ----------------------
