I would need advive on the following:
I am very interested in the Pentax Pf 100ED using it for both terrestial as well as astronomy
Will the image quality be any good above 100x magnification?
Or will I be better off using a telescope as a spotting scope such as the televue 85?
Thank you!

Hi

If you are talking about using the Pentax 100ED at 100x during the day, the answer is, yes, it would do an excllent job IF (and that is a very big if) the atmosphere will allow it.

Always keep in mind that atmospheric turbulence during the day puts a cap on how much magnification you can actually use and still retain a useful image. On some days this may be as little as 30x, but on others it may be 60x or more.

I have been able to use over 60x frequently in arid, western states, but very seldom in the more humid east.

Hi Jne,
Thanks for your swift response.
Also, do you know if the scope can be fitted with a 2x barlow objective?
Again, thank you for your time.

Warm regards
