Does the color of the lens affect how much light is blocked? I am a professional pilot. I want maximum protection from the sun while also having the best clairity to see such things such as other aircraft in the sky around me.

Yes, lens color as well as the model of the lens will have an effect on light transmission. See or description of Serengeti lSunglasses lenses on our website.
