add New Jersey to the list of places that miss suncloud.
I too was lucky enough to snatch a final pair after the long break. Another thing that many of you might not have known was that if sent them your prescription, suncould would make rose w/ prescription for you. talk about special.
still have a couple but my prescription has changed.... |

Hi,
I would like to know if I can have a sunglass frame made to fit my suncloud lenses. the old frame was shattered but the lenses are okay.
I have bought a pair of Bucci rose sunglasses and these are close to the sunclouds. |

I don't believe the new Suncloud line have glass lens and no SCR lenses either.
My old pair of Docini's broke and I would love to find a repair place. I recently spent $200.00 for a pair on ebay. As far as I know ebay is the only place to find original Suncloud, but you will pay big time for perfect ones.
Costa Del Mar sunglasses would be my second choice in glasses but they are only a faint second. |

| Has anyone seen an old product list for the vintage sunclouds? I have lost my pair and can not remember which style they were, nor can I find the ones I had anywhere on the web.[/list] |

| I have three pairs of sun clouds which I purchased over 15 years ago. One pair rose colored cat eyes (stem just broke) one pair red frames oval lens rose colored mountain glasses and one pair oval lens polorized. Does anyone know where you can get new stems from sun cloud. |

I can't believe it! Is it possible? Is this really our old Sunclouds?
http://www.suncloudsunglasses.com/index.html
The logo looks the same, is it really and truly them? The website seems current...
When did this happen?! It seems I run this search at least once a month, how could I miss this?
There isn't a list of retailers, but several sites do come up with a Google search. Looks like they are running around $50. (a pleasant surprise!)
I've sent a request to customer service asking for a list of authorized retailers. I don't want to end up with an imposter.
It looks like they are all polycarbonate. I'm thrilled they'll be lighter than the old glass ones, but am worried they might not have the right shade, (tint?) whatever it is that made them so wonderful.
I'm sure I'll be ordering a pair - I'll report back with the good news! |

Seems to me that Sunclouds were NOT made in China (like they are now).
They also did not have junk injected frames, basically the same as the $10 junk at the corner gas station.
They have really thin and cheap CR39 lens (the cheapest optical plastic lens made, just like the junk).
No metal hinges either, sure to break in a month or so.
These ARE DEFINATELY NOT like the old Suncloud we knew and loved. This is just someone using the name to sell $10 junk for $50-60.

| I stumbled on this thread just out of curiosity about the Suncloud brand. I have to say I am pretty impressed with all the brand loyalty. I never owned any of the old school Sunclouds, but I work for a retail company and we carry the new Suncloud line. The guys last post is prolly pretty accurate, the new Sunclouds are not really the same as the old ones, but I would not go as far as to say the new ones are the same as the junk you can buy at the gas station. I just got a pair to replace the Smiths I lost and so far I am very happy. I would say that they have been pretty well received by our customers with out a lot of returns. Our company has a very liberal return policy and we take a lot of things back above and beyond manufacturers warranty, and it doesn't look like we are getting back a lot of these. I would say they are way better than $10 gas station sunglasses, and at $40-$50 they compare very favorably to much more expensive glasses. |

D&G? Prada? Yeah if you want to wear the same stuff metrosexual celebrities wear.
By the way, don't wear shades inside a club, you look like an idiot. |

For your information the, "Original Rose Lens" can be found in custom made product sold by Big 5 Sporting Goods on the West Coast. The brand to ask for is Body Glove (Sold exclusiveley at Big 5). The frames are manufactured in Italy and the Lenses are manufactured by the original Japanese lens manufacturer in Japan. The styles that have the, "Original Rose Lens" are the Body Glove Style, "Wahoo" and the style, " Sandy Beach." |
