As per Garmin's instructions to receive my $50 rebate for the 60CSx, I sent in the receipt, UPC code, and completely filled out form. Today I received email indicating an invalid UPC code and missing serial #. The UPC code is cut out straight from the box, so I'm not sure how it can be invalid. The serial # comes directly from the battery compartment of the device.

I'm always pretty careful about following rebate instructions to the letter and double-checking everything, since I know the slightest mistake provides an excuse not to send me the money.

The rebate Web site suggests writing to an address to provide any missing information and correct errors. My guess is that this will be wasted effort -- it's hard enough to receive a rebate even if everything is done correctly.

Hi

Sorry you have had problems with Garmin. I'd suggest giving them a call.

Contact Garmin at 1-800-800-1020, 1-888-442-7646 or (913) 397-8200
or visit their website at http://www.garmin.com/

Turns out there were two UPC codes on the box -- a large, prominent one and a hard-to-find minuscule label that, of course, was the one that was supposed to be sent in. This I did, as per the rebate resubmission instructions. Unfortunately, after several weeks, the rebate Web site still indicates an invalid UPC. I'm sure the black hole for resubmissions eats up entries even more voraciously than the one for initial submissions, so I think I'll just write this one off.

You know...I checked my rebate online with their rebate tracker thing..and my serial number was ALSO invalid!!! I think I know why we both had the same problem...I am also EXTREMELY careful when filling out rebate forms also...I noticed that on the rebate form, they ask for an "8 digit serial number on the back of the watch"...BUT its actually a 9 "character" serial number!!!!!!!!!!! Those jerks made the rebate form wrong...OR they did it on purpose so they don't have to give people their rebates!!! MISLEADING JERKS!!!! Evil or Very Mad

The 8- vs. 9-digit serial-number issue has been discussed on several boards. The short story is that those with 9-digit serials should simply add the extra digit next to the provided boxes. Several individuals have reported contacting Garmin and being told to do this.

Yeah, I wrote a letter to the Garmin Resubmission Dept. and pointed out that there weren't enough spaces, and I thought they wanted just the digits, and left out the letter...then today, I received an email telling me that my rebate was in the mail and its valid now. I'm glad they didn't just cut people off & tell them its too bad...It sucks that they messed up on the rebate form, but they've created a "resubmission dept" just to take care of things like that. Very Happy
