Daytime use

Can night vision scopes (rifle) be used during the day time in normal light or are the exclusively for low light use? For example, would a 3x or 4x scope provide similar magnification in normal light?

Hi

You can use an NV riflescope in daylight long enough to sight in, with the provided peephole lens cover only, but even with the cover on, continued use will damage the scope. Bad idea.

Night vision scopes are for use in dark conditions only. Intensifier tube damage will occur if used in daylight, with earlier generations more susceptible to damage more quickly that later generations.
