Hi, I am looking to buy a small very bright tactical flashlight. In particular I was looking at the Streamlight Tactical TL-2 LED Flashlight 88105 or the equivalent light with a Xenon bulb.
I had been told that the high output LEDs were brighter and lasted longer. However, your site lists the Xenon as 114 Lumens, and the LED as only 30 Lumens. Is this correct that the LED is only 1/4th as bright as the Xenon one?
Any other advice or other tactical lights I should consider in that price range?
THanks. |

Hi
While it is possible to make an LED as bright as a xenon, it would require more power, so if you want the brightest model, a zenon option is usually your best choice. On the other hand, the LED is a lot tougher and less prone to breakage and has a virtually unlimited lifespan. On a zenon or other incandescent, you will need to replace bulbs on a regualr basis. _________________ Thanks for posting with us

Hi, I just came across this thread. I am also in the market for a small tactical light for general and hunting use. When you say the bulb on the xenon needs to be replaced on a regular basis, how often is that and are they expensive to replace.
Thanks--Albert |

| I have to replace my bulb every year or so. It's not that they are expensive, but just a pain to keep replacing. I have switched to a Streamlight TL-3 LED and love not having to worry about replacing the bulb |
