Bushnell comparison

1.Kindly compare the performance of Bushnell 2.5x42mm26-0400 And 3.1x50mm26-3150 and prices, for outdoor/security use.
2.Is there any way of telling whether a purported new unit has actually been used before(I got conned once in buying a GPS).

The 26-0400 has been discontinued and is no longer available. We still list the 26-3150, however.

When comparing generation 1 NV, keep in mind that all the intensifier tubes are roughly the saame performance-wise since thay all are sourced from the same part of the world, namely Russia. The only siognificant differences will be design (monocular, binocular, etc), waterproofing, IR illuminator, shape, size and weight and warranty.

The 26-3150 is a solid NV bino. It will perform on a par with any Gen 1 unit.

There is no foolproof way to guarantee a product hasn't been used before. Anyone who wants to get into the NV business has only to go to Russia, buy a bunch of product and start a company. That's why the NV field is littered with "here today, gone tomorrow" outfits. The advantage of Bushnell is that you are dealing with a known quantity as far as the company and warranty. When you buy a Bushnell or other major brand through a reputable dealer, the odds of getting burned are very remote.
