| Recently, I have been inquiring about Monuclars. I was told that I should purchase a Zeiss. I need to have something that is light weight because it will be used on hiking trips. The one that I have my eye on is Ziess, Mini quick. 5x10. But the maganification doesn't seem very strong. Can someone help me? |

The Zeiss Miniquick is a great little monocular, but if you need more power, you can always move up into a full-size Zeiss model such as the 8x20, http://www.opticsplanet.net/zeiss-8x20-b-design-selection-monocular.html Equally as good in terms of optics and also smaller, is the Nikon 7x15HG, http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-monocular-7x15.html These are not cheap, of course, but the optics are guaranteed to please the fussiest optics nut (me).
For much less money, you can get a Nikon clone with the made-in-China Audubon 6x16, http://www.opticsplanet.net/audubon-6x16-monocular-finish-blue.html Not as good as the much pricier Nikon, but surprisingly good for $30. _________________ ----------------------
