Hey Ive recently picked up a Benelli R-1 30-06 rifle. My choice was based on several factors including Benelli reputation, reliability, ease of taking it down/ putiing it back together, and my choice in caliber based on exp. plus balistics and ability to hunt a wide variety of game. I know most of the well known scopes would do the job, and provide great optics. Any advice on which would be the best balance of being rugged, lightweight, and not more expensive than the R-1 was? I do like the idea of Burris' ballistic plex ret., and i know Kahles offers something similiar. Also, any one familiar with quick disconnecting scope mounts with reliability that dont break the bank? Just a curiosity.

Hi

For riflescopes, I would look at the mid-line series such as the Nikon Monarch, http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-riflescope-monarch-ucc-3-9x40.html, Bushnell Elite 3200, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bu3el32hascw.html and Leupold VX-II, http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-vari-x-ii-3-9x40mm-rifle-scope.html These probably give you the most scope quality for the dollar - to get better, you will need to spend much more.

The Leupold QR system, http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-qr-quick-release-bases.html is an effective, but reasonably priced QR system.

Any particular reason you didn't mention the Burris? I'm looking at putting a fullfield II on my Rem. 700 BDL (also .30-06).

The Fulfield II is probably the best scope made in its' price range.
