I need a tripod

Hi Joanie,
First of all, thanks so much for your advice on my spotting scope purchase a couple weeks ago. I love my new scope and you were right, it sure was worth the extra $$ for the better optics.

Anyway, I have been borrowing some tripods in hopes of finding something that I like, since it is pretty hard to know what you are getting when looking on the web. Now I need to purchase something and the ones I have used are either too flimsy or overly large. What tripod would you suggest for a 80mm scope that may at times have a 35mm camera attached to it? My budget is somewhat limited, but I want to make sure I get something that will be stable.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new scope.

I'm being absolutely honest whe I say you are making a mistake to get anything less than a basic Bogen, such as the 3180N, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bogen-manfrotto-3180n-tripod-and-head-kit.html especially if you will be adding a camera. Both photgraphy and high magnification visual work with an 80mm scope make this the minimum.
