YUKON VIKING RX 3.5X40 NV Vs YUKON RANGER 5X42 DIGITAL NV
I would appreciate your help in choosing one of them.
- The higher the mag gives poor resolution, but using a doubler will it reduce/improve the resolution opposed to one without a doubler
- Can one use the doubler as a binocular on its own
- Can either be used during day time, especially the doubler as it will save me from taking a binocular as well on a holiday.
- Is the doubler really useful, than one without
- which one would you go for given the option
Thanks in advance |

| I would also appreciate if you can tell me if the field of view is important for viewing wild life as one of the YUKON RANGER 5X42 has a FOV of 5 deg as opposed to 30 deg on the other model. |

Hi
The higher the magnification, the lower the inmage quality, no matter how you achieve the magnification. Adding a doubler with a 3.5x gives you 7x. Image quality will be less at 7x than at 5x.
The digital can be used by day, in that it will not be damaged by exposure to bright light, but it is still no substitute for a conventional monocular or binocular. You will never get the image quality of a standard bino or monocular by day with this product. Not recommended as a substitute.
A conventional NV such as the RX should never be used by day. Prolonged use by day will burn out the tube.
Yes, the bino will offer a wider field of view as well as more comfortable viewing. That is why you choose a bino. _________________ ----------------------
