Hope someone can steer me in the right direction: A member of our congregation is leaving for Iraq next month. We want to give him a "goodbye" gift that will be useful . Someone suggested that a GPS unit might come in handy. He will be providing securuty to Iraqi and US leaders. Could you suggest what type of unit we should purchase? We are working with a budget so are cost-sensitive but want to buy somehting that will actually work in Iraq.

Thanks!

Hi

Any GPS unit will work to give you a location anywhere in the world. If that's all you need, an inpexpensive Garmin will do a nice job. Try the Garmin E-Trex, http://www.opticsplanet.net/garmin-etrex-venture-gps-system-0100022500.html

If you need mapping capability, you will need to invest in a more expensive model, such as the excellent GPSMAP60, http://www.opticsplanet.net/garmin-gps-map-60c-electronc-map-gps-system-0100029700.html, then download software (available from Garmin) into the GPS.
