I have a Savage 210, 12G Bolt Action Shotgun. I am going to mount a Simmons 1.5-5X32 ProDiamond Shotgun Scope, using Leupold PRW rings.

What kind of LocTite should I use on the rings screws and mounting screws? Blue or Red?

Also, I have seen it suggested that I 'wrap' the scope's tube with one piece of electrical tape (where the rings will become mounted). Is this needed?

Anything else I need to do? THANKS!

Hi

No need to go crazy with the Loc Tite for a shotgun scope. Recoil is not that severe and you'll be gald you stayed with the blue if you ever decide to remove the scope. Use red only as a last resort.

Never use loc-tite when you mount a scope. If the scope is properly mounted and you use quality rings and bases you do not need to use anything on the screws. All it does is cause problems if you ever need to remove those screws.
