After your great advice I was all ready to order a new spotter scope. Then the transmission fell out of the car .... scope waits for a month or two.

Anyway, in the mean time after looking at your advice (see utterly confused) I got to thinking about the Lomo (you recommended either the Bushnell Trophy 20-60x65, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-20-60x65-trophy.html - or the - LOMO 70 LER, http://www.opticsplanet.net/as70lersp.html (get the demo))

I had an old tasco "Galexsee" (600 mm, 900 mm focal lenght). Simple straight though scope with a right angle mirror at the end.

Must be extreely cheap scope as I could just barely make out the holes in the target at 300 ft. (used the lowest power eye peice ... higer power or 2x adapter cut the light down a lot!).

Three questions:
1) the image as I look into it is reversed (writing on the target is backward). Is there an adapter I can put in before the eye piece to "flip" the image. The eye piece is 1 1/4" diameter.

2) will I have this same problem with the lomo? will the image be inverted or normal?

3) since this is a fair size lens (600 mm), can I assume the resolution is poor just because it is a "cheap" scope .... I guess what I want to know is for $200 will the two other scopes you recommended have a better resolution?

Thanks again ..... Mike
Very Happy

Hi

Yes, you can add a 45 degree erect image prism such as the Meade, http://www.opticsplanet.net/meade-928-45-erect-image-diagonal-prism.html as long as the opening in your focuser is 1.25". If it is .965", you'll have a problem finding accessories, but the Zhumell, http://www.opticsplanet.net/zhumell-965-erecting-prism.html will work if we can get it.

Your Galaxsee is probably a 60mm, not 600mm. Yes, this is a marginal quality lens, but I understand being in a financial pinch. Seems like a chronic ailment for me. Either the LOMO or the Bushnell will outperform it.

The LOMO spotting scope will give you a correct image - right side up and correct right to left.
