I'm contemplating - seriously - puschasing a spotting scope for viewing wildlife; deer and turkey on my wooded property, as well as close range bird viewing, and long range viewing on occasional trips. Looks like there are a lot of quality options out there.
Being a long time photographer - I do have an appreciation for qualtiy optics.
I know I would be more than happy with the Swarovski line, ats 80 or 60 hd. But the cost is a bit un nerving.
So to help me decide - who tends to choose Swarovski over all the other good options - and what is the most typical reason for choosing to make such an investment?
Thanks |

Hi
The origianl Swarovski marketing program in North America targeted hunters and in that community, the name Swarovski is very well known. The birding community was their next focus and n that market their products are also very well known and appreciated. To put it in a nutshell, the only neagtive about Swarovski products is the price, and even there it can be argued that Swarovski products are quite affordable in the long haul, given their quality and lifespan.
This is not to say that Swarovski sits alone at the top of the performance mountain. After having used and tested all the major brands and models, I can assure you that the top-end models form Leica, Zeiss, Nikon and Kowa will do just as well. When I've been in a position to show them all to a customer in a side by side comparison, I have never been able to predict which one a customer will buy. They are just too close to call.
This is a good thing for the consumer. The battle for top dog in the spotting scope world is hard fought and the products keep getting better as a result.
