Hi,
I'm in desperate need of a good quality "wrap around" sunglass, with a very dark lens as I am severely light sensitive. I'm guessing it should also be polarized, since I am a "live aboard" boater and reflected glare is a problem. (I am partial to tortoise colored frames.) Any recommendations?
Thanks much. Smile

It sounds like Sunglasses from Bolle might meet your needs. The Bolle styles are sports-oriented so there is a greater selection of wrap-arounds and I think you would appreciate the long-lasting, shatter-proof materials. You are right to be interested in lenses that are Polarized in order to control glare from the water. The Bolle lens color with the least light transmission is the Bolle 100 Gun, a dark amber, at 5% transmission. However, that tint is not widely available. The next level of transmission is 12% for the dark brown TLB Dark and the nuetral density gray, TNS. Although the tint is not dark, the transmission for the Sandstone is 10%. See our Bolle Frame And Lens Color Page for color samples. Bolle uses tortoise a lot and you might want to type "tortoise" in our search field at OpticsPlanet.com to see the frames available in that style. The darkest lenses I could find in a tortoise frame are between 14% and 17% light transmission. The following are my recommendations for wrap-arounds that come in a tortoise frame with protective Polarized lenses: Bolle Snakes Boa, Bolle Snakes Anaconda and Bolle Snakes Recoil. Here are good non-tortoise wrap-arounds: Bolle Snakes Spiral and Bolle Swisher.

Oliver Peoples are of the highest quality that I know. I have many sunglasses, and among them are four pairs of Oliver Peoples(collection still growing...) and they are my favorites.
