How do the ATN rangefinders compare in quality with other rangefinders? When it says 1500 yards I assume that is for reflective targets. How far will the ATN range non reflective targets?

Hi

There is no maximum range listed, reflective or non-reflective, for any LRF that translates into anything real out in the field. The number of variables involved in performance make any quote on an exact distance little more than a guess. In fact, Nikon no longer lists ranges on their LRFs because it is at best, misleading and useless information. In the field, most users, regardless of brand or model, target a larger, nearby object, when ranging on deer past 300 yards. Use ranges listed between models as a rough way to compare one model to another, but never take the distances, literally. Your choice of rangefinder really is as much a matter of other features you want, such as waterproofing, ballistic software, optical quality, scan/zip/rain modes and other features.

This is a very good question that we are asked often. Although it is very difficult to predict the performance under various environmental conditions. We have done some field tests on our Range Finders and we have seen them to perform quite well with accuracies of + or - 4 yards. They are well built and have the same features as some of the more expensive brands do.
