These sights are usually promoted for hanguns and shotguns. Are they not commonly used on rifles? Seems they would be ideal for thick cover and low light. Are they different criteria to use in selcting one for a centerfire rifle?
No different criteria. It's just that rifles are generally shot farther than shotguns and handguns, and more accurately. The dot covers up too much area to take advantage of the distance they are capable of shooting. On a short range rifle they would be ideal in many circumstances. Recoil is often less on a rifle than a shotgun or handgun, also. If a red dot suits your application, it's great on a rifle. _________________ Aim Hard!
