I am wondering about a tri pod for my new Vortex Nomad scope (angled). I will be hiking etc., and it will be my first tripod so I would like to keep it around $100.00 if it is possible. Any advice for the do's and don'ts of what features work best would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
By far the best choice is the [ur=http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-tripod-848.htmll]NIkon 848[/url]. It is not as smooth as a high priced Bogen (though it is made for Nikon by Bogen), but it is very rugged and reliable. I've used one for years on a small spotting scope and the 848 just refuses to break, no matter how I treat it. _________________ Thanks for posting with us

I was just wondering how the vortextripods compared to the nikon one you suggested. The pro, or radian series. I already told my wife about the nikon. So it might already be a done deal anyway. Thanks
Good values, but plastic head on the 450. Go with the Pro for the meatal head. I would hesitate to put any good spotting scope on a tripod with a plastic head. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
