I'm trying to figure out how the accuracy of Red Dot Style Scopes actually come to be. When I purchased both the Barska and Tasco's I didn't expect the "DOT" to "float" all around the inside of the lense when looking though it at different eye posistions. How is this going to be accurate at all when the distance increases and I can't even tell if the the dot is actually centered in the tube. Any help would be great.
What you're experiencing is parallax. You need to have your eye centered in the sight picture to prevent the dot from floating around. Make sure you have a tight cheek weld on your rifle and if you are shooting pistol, you need to make sure you are holding it steady in front of your eye.
Also, keep in mind that you are looking at lower end red dot sights, and parallax will be a bigger issue with them. Try looking through an Aimpoint sight and see if it still happens. If you still experience the same thing with an Aimpoint, you know it's not the sight. _________________ Best Regards,
