About 6 months ago I picked up a Bausch and Lomb Balscope Sr. at a garage sale. It has a 60 mm objective and a 20X eyepiece. According to the receipt still in the box, it was purchased in 1958. It appears to be a very nice spotting scope with smooth focusing and a sharp view across the field.(especially for $1Cool. My question is whether there is any hope for finding a B & L 30X and/or a 60X eyepiece somewhere or another brand that would fit the scope.

Hi

The old Balscope was a classic and arguably one of the best spotting scopes, if not the very best, of its day. Truly a fine optic and if you got one in mint condition, you did very well. Finding an eyepiece, though, is going to be a long shot. Get on E-bay and watch like a hawk. Used is your only option, here.

My girlfriend and I were going through some of her fathers old stuff and we found what we believe to be both a 60X and a 30X eyepiece for a B & L BALscope Sr. I can send you pictures of the items if you would like to verify that they are what you need. My email address is skidmarkb@gmail.com
