| I currently have a Celestron G-8N, which is an 8 inch short tube Newtonian Reflector (f/5 mirror with 1000mm of focal length) on a CG-5 Equatorial Mount and tripod. I am thinking about getting a 9.25 inch Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain optical tube and putting it on my existing tripod/mount. Specifically I want to get the Celestron C9 1/4-A XLT (CG-5) (item no. 91025-XLT) optical tube. Will this work? And, will the 9.25 inch Schmidt Cassegrain be much better, than the one I have now? How do they compare? |

Hi
You are comparing tow different optical designs. Really no best, here, just a matter of your application. A Schmidt-Cassegrain, will, however, be a more compact and versatile design, given all the accessories available. Going to a larger aperture will also improve performance, whether you move up to another reflector od an SCT. . _________________ Thanks for posting with us
