Hi everyone,
We just purchased a used Jason Mercury 430x60 Astronomical Telescope. The Focal Length is 80mm, Objective Lens: 60mm coated and it comes with various magnification lenses. However, it is suppose to have a Barlow 3x lens included. This was missing. We are trying to find any info we can on this telescope and purchase a Barlow 3x lens. How can we determine if it takes the .9??? lens or the 1.25 lens? Also, does anyone know what the f-stop is on the telescope and the quality of it? It is a refractor.
Thanks so much for your help. |

Hi
To determine whether it takes .965" or 1.25" eyepieces, simply measure the opening in the focuser where the eyepieces goes. It will be just under 1" If ti is .965" (most likely) or just over an inch if it is 1.25" If it is .965" you are going to have issues finding any .965" accessory, as these are obsolete. Usually means trying to find used, but right now, we do have one .865" 2x barlow in the Meade #134. 2x is a more practical size in a barlow than 3x.
Check that focal length, again. It is probably 800mm, not 80mm. Focal ratio is simply the focal length (800mm?) dived by objective size (60mm) _________________ Thanks for posting with us

So, are you saying that the 2x .865 for the Mead is interchangable with the .965 for the Jason? If so, how can I get a price on this?
thanks.[/b] |
