In August I purchased a new scope (Celestron C10-NGT). I had problems from the time of the order which may be relevant. After not receiving any confirmation of shipment for 2-3 weeks, I contacted OP to tell them that I would probably order from another place. I was pleased when they immediately shipped. It was here three days later. Ill come back to this.
While putting this telescope together I realized that there was no place on the telescope tube or the tube rings to what I assume is the correct mounting bracket (this bracket fits perfectly in the mounting platform). Consequently, I had been mounting the scope by placing the dove tail directly into the mounting platform. This has been causing some minor paint damage to the dovetail, but I can live with that. More importantly, I would like to get the telescope mounted correctly. Any ideas on this issue?
After incorrectly mounting the scope, I then went to work trying to perform my various alignment procedures. The scope will slew in the general direction of the alignment star, stop for a moment, and then continue to slew, in a very erratic way, until it is pointing almost dead south and at the ground. Yes, I am choosing good alignment stars. I could go on to describe other odd behaviors of the mount and GT but the general idea is that it just plain aint working.
I did put a ticket in with OP that was never responded to, and was later wiped clean as the result of some "upgrade" to their "service" or security or something. My telescope currently sits covered im my garage.
Back to the first paragraph. Does anyone think that OP hastily put together a scope for me in the hopes of preserving the sale? I ask this community these questions before I go back to OP service. That was a dead end for me last time. Any input is appreciated. Im dying to use this scope.

Hi
Sorry for all the problems, but, no, we don't open, inspect or assemble anything prior to shipment. As far as Celestron telescopes, we receive them directly from Celestron, in the box, and ship them on to the customer. We never actually touch or inspect the product. With as many as a thousand orders going out in a day, that simply isn't possible.
As far as customer service issues, I can't help you on that end - I am an information specialist - but if you email us at sales@opticsplanet.com with the order number, I will see that it is forwarded to our Customer Service manager. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
