which kit to get

I'm looking to get an 1.25 eyepiece and filter kit. I found the Celestron with 5 plossel eyepieces, a barlow and filters. Theres also the Zhumell kit with 4 eyepieces, filters and polarizing and Crystalview moon filter. I'm not sure which one to get. anyone have any ideas? Heres a link that has both. My telescope is a 114mm reflector.

Hi

Comaprable quality on both. Most important consideration is matching the focal length of the eyepieces in each kit to your specific telescope. To determine magnification with any eyepiece, divide the focal length of your telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece (eyepieces are marked and sold by focal length, not magnification). I generally recommend a range of magnifications in the low, medium and high range and do not recommend more than 150x in that size reflector if you expect good image quality. Use high magnifications for the moon and planets, but keep magnifications on the low side for nebuale, star clusters and galaxies.

thanks for the reply. My focal length is 500mm. The zhumell kit comes with super plossel eyepieces. I think they might be better, Also it comes with a polarizing filter. I'm still confused as to which is better but I'm leaning to the zhumell kit.

Hi

A polarizing filter is functionally a moon filter and the Zhumell eyepieces may have a slightly wider field of view than the Celestron eyepieces, but I don't think you are going to notice a great deal of difference in optical quality.
