Hi
The difference between the two is the mount and that is a big difference. The 8i uses a single arm mount, whereas the CPC use a much more stable fork mount. The fork mount is a the winner for higher magnification visual oberving and photgraphy. The CPC also incorporates Celestron's latest computerization software. _________________ ----------------------

Hi
The differences will be between the computerization (the CPC uses the new sky align technology, the Nextstar is a GPS ), the tube material (CPC is aluminum, the Nexstar is carbon) and a newly redesigned drive in the CPC for quieter operation. _________________ ----------------------
