THis man speaks the truth, soulrevolver has the best replica of the durden jacket I have ever seen. The only difference I can see is of course the leather quality, but other then that, the stitching pattern is identical to the DURDEN Jacket. It's going for about $400.00 us.

I recently watched fight club again, and I cannot tell wheather the OLIVER PEOPLES " SUNSET " THAT russianrocket had displayed are the same glasses in the movie. The frame of the shades durden wears appear to be silver. the pair displayed on this site or black frames. I know they could have been made in different frame colors like the AEROS are made, but it gets me thinking. Also, it seems that there is absolutely not record of the so called SUNSET model.

I recently found pics of brad from 1999, and confirmed that the oliver peoples AERO he wears in fight club, were not a emerald pink, rather they were WHAT appeared to be GOTHIC ROSE, the same color that the OP-523 were in. If anyone has any comment, just post it. I will show you the pics of Pitt wearing the AEROS in a deep red, just like in the movie.

I have recently spoken to somebody regarding the so-called Oliver Peoples Sunset, and they say they have a pair. What is strange is that this person tells me that they are not called SUNSET, they go by another name. He's shown me the pic of the sunglasses he has, and they are the same as the one's Pitt wears when all of the spacemonkies are watching the news; same color lense and frame. The size and shape look identical to the ones that are one PAGE 4, except the frame on page 4 seems to be very dark. Tyler's are silver. I am now beginning to think that all the glasses that pitt wore in the movie, had their lenses replaced with red color lenses.

The OP-523s are great looking sunglasses, so why have they stopped making them?

I guess after 10 years, obscure styles fade away, making room for new innovations and styles. That's life I guess, and we should stop living in the past.

I think the Oliver Peoples Aeros are great but they're just aviators. You can find that style everywhere and less expensive to boot!

If one day Oliver Peoples decide to start remaking the Fight Club OP-523s then maybe I'll buy some then, but as for now, they're so rare that it's hardly worth wasting your life over such a ridiculous pursuit. Look up from your computer screens guys, the sun's shining!

Reason they stopped making the OP-523 is because Oliver Peoples supposedly feels that the model's popularity due to the Unique style of the frame, along with the fact that they were in the film, makes the frame extra special, and therefore should remain a rare product. I envy that. I purchased mine in 2001, and they had re-released the frame for the second and last time. So they did acutally re-release the frame. As someone stated earlier in this blog. The frames would not be as special if they were as available as the AEROS. As for AEROS being just another style of aviators, thats not true. Of course they are aviators stayle, but they are very unique, and of a very high quality. The size, shape, frame material, and assortment of lense colors for the AEROS make them a very special style of aviators. One makes them extra-special is that they come in 3 different sizes, and the frame style will look good on just about anyone given they choose the correct size. And just to set the record straight. This site is for sunglass enthusiasts, as well as collectors. Although i bring up fight club often, this blog is first and formost about sunglasses. The unique style of the fight club shades, which is due to the frames/lense color, together with the fact that they were worn in the movie, make the fight club oliver peoples models very special, and very rare. You can only appreciate it if youre a collector, or just a big fight club fan. The comment about buying the fight club glasses someday if they are available is not realistic. The frames have become an investment. They will never be cheap, and they will never be available if you dont have the money or the effort to find them. I am currently an intro-sunglass collector who has spent lots of dollars purchasing high-quality, rare sunglasses. When I mean rare, I mean that they are either discontinued, or just that you wont catch someone on the street wearing them. lol As for the sun shining outside, and looking up from the computer screen comment. Dont tell anyone that theyre waisting their life. If they are doing what they want, then its not a waist. What one person mite see as a fulfilling life, another sees as a waist of time. The suns not shining over here. We have severe thunderstorms.

What we should do, is not give pointless advise which does not in any way better civilization. I dont know about living in the past, but the future looks pretty grim from where I'm standing. Abre los ojos.

Lame, danboy. Contradicting yourself like that. My eyes are open! They're just sunglasses that a lot of people are probably obsessed with because of Fight Club. If Brad Pitt wasn't wearing them people probably wouldn't give a damn about them.

So what does that say? That you aren't good enough if you're not wearing stuff Brad Pitt wears in movies?

You're all good enough without a pair of square, red-lensed sunglasses, surely?

And I'm pretty sure at least a few of the people in this forum are at least a little bit obsessed with the OP-523's. If you're a serious collector, I'm not referring to you!

It's always stormy here, unlike Miami, us Brits rarely have occasion to wear sunglasses!

I'm sorry, but where did I contradict myself hardcorr?. Saying " What we should do, is not give pointless advise which does not in any way better civilization" is not GIVING ADVISE, rather its a statement regarding my opinion of those who do give pointless advise based on their idealism or point of view. So therefore I see no contradiction. If I had said that " WE NEED" to stop giving advise, then I would have been giving advise, and I surely would be contradicting myself.

OK Danboy, whatever you say. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick or something. It was a pretty ambiguous statement so forgive me if I got it wrong. My bad.

Hardcorr, I agree with you 100% on the subject of someone spending all their time searching for the OP-523. I honestly dont think I coud spend 1000 $ ON THEM, knowing that theyre used. If they were brand new, I'd consider it. But the thing that everyone has to understand is that when I purchased them from the Oliver Peoples retailer, I bought them for $335.00. That was after the film, during the model's second release. I dont know how much they originally went for. Now people are selling them, and people are buying them for over $1,000. Seems crazy for a pair of sunglasses, but the thing is, ONCE YOUVE bought them for 1,000, you'll never sell them for less. At least thats what Ive been seeing online; on ebay. theyre an investment. The whole race is to see how cheap you can get them. Ive seen them sell for 1,7000.
