I am looking at the Nature package that comes with the Swarovski ATS HD 80 scope, the zoom 20-60 eyepiece and the DCA adapter. I am wondering if my coolpix 8400 filter ring will fit one of the rings provided in the adapter kit. Also I am wondering how the eyepiece is zoomed when this is attached to the camera. Is there access to the zoom ring or does the whole mechanism rotate together.

Finally, will I be able to adjust the adapter to get the scope glass and the camera lens as close as possible to eliminate vignetting during the mounting process. Then use the camera zoom to further enhance the setup. Or is the adapter going to leave a fixed distance from the camera lens for all cameras?

Hi

You need to check the filter thread size on your camera, if any, as we do not have that information (we are not a Nikon camera dealer) and your cmaera must have threads to use a DCA. Otheriwse, use the DCB.

The DCA with camera attached, snaps onto the zoom eyepiece of your Swarovski ATS or STS. The DCA is supplied with 28mm, 37mm, 43mm and 52mm filter thread size adapters. If your SLR or point and shoot lens has a different filter or accessory thread size (usually marked on the lens ring), you can obtain a step-ring (common camera accessory) at a camera store to make up the difference. Yes, you can zoom the eyepiece with DCA attached to change magnification. Very well thought out design.

You can adjust the distance of the camera to lens, but you should only use as much optical zoom on the camera as needed to reduce vignetting. If you need more magnification, use the spotting scope.
