Hi
There is no best single brand or model. I have used Canons, Pentax, Nikon, Sony and so on. All you need is a SMALL digital with a QUALITY lens and no more than 3x or 4x optical zoom. The key is small. You want a small lens, not a camera with a large lens. Small lenses are a much better match for spotting scope eyepieces and will not only produce less vignetting, they are also much easier to handle and work with in the field. Moreover, you are not going to improve pic quality by going to a larger camera. Your choice of spotting scope is far more important than your choice of camera. Put your dollars into the spotting scope. I also like image stabilization. MP count is overrated. These days, nearly any good digital will have more than you will ever need.
Models with 10x or higher zooms are invariably models with large lenses and are to be avoided. Models with only 3x or 4x optical zoom are typically small cameras and the best choices. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
