I m looking for a decent spotting scope under $400 for watching water-fowls at 250 yards.
Should i go with zoom eye-piece or fixed eye-piece. Which one would give better optics.?

I need magnification upto 45x.
Is there any scope under $400 which provide fixed eye-piece of 45x?

Thanks in advance

Hi

That's going to be a problem, since most spotting scopes at this price do not offer optional eyepieces - nearly all come with zooms as the standard and the only eyepiece - and when they do offer optionasl eyepieces, you won't get to 45x. You are pretty much stuck with a zoom.

The good news is that you have some decent scopes with zoom eyepieces at this price. I like the Alpen 788, the Vortex Skyline and the 65mm Nikon Prostaff. These are as good as you are going to get at this price.
