Besides the prism, is there any difference between the Nikon Monarchs 10x42mm and the Action Extreme ones?

Anything comparable in price with better quality? or equal quality at a lower price? I liked the Monarchs feel but the AE's felt funky, anything in porro that might have similar quality?
thank you very much

They really do not compare. I personally do not like the bigger porros. The Actions are 10x50 and quite heavy. To get the equivalent view to the 10x42, you would need a 10x40 porro of another brand.

My brain goes a bit crazy when I try to look at things about 30ft or closer with porros. This is because the objective lenses are far apart. Some people like that effect.

They do comapare very close in optics. Monarch is very close in brigtness and crisp images to Action extremes.

It takes much effort to build a roof than a comparitive porro. Action Ex is porro whereas monarch is a roof, and so these both compare very much in optics.

But when it comes to handling, light weight and focusing, roof will be better.
