| I have a 6" Celestron Starhopper Dob which was my first real telescope other than a cheap 60mm. When I got my dob to be honest I was a little disappointed in what I could see. I wasn't expecting NASA like views but I did think my views would have been a little better. Another thing I don't like about the dob is that it's not portable and is sometimes really hard to find stuff with. So my question is would a Meade ETX-125PE offer any better views over my 6" dob when it comes to planets and the moon and how will it fair on deep space. I'll really appreciate the help. |

Hi
That depends on how you define better views. A 6" reflecotr, such as your Starhopper will see fainter objects than the ETX-125, making it a slightly better choice for deep-sky work. The ETX-125 will provide better edge sharpness and probably a touch more detail with its excellent optics, making it a better choice for planets. Overall, though, we are only talking one inch of aperture difference. Not going to be a huge difference, no. Buy the ETX for its wonderful portability, fine optics and computerization, not for better views. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
