| I have owned a Bushnell Spacemaster 78-1800 (with 22X WA eyepiece) for about 15 years. I assume that the new Spacemasters (which may share the same model number) offer improved specs. For example, mine is apaprently not waterproof, and that seems to be a standard feature on new full-size Spacemasters. The box mentions only multi-coated optics, and I think the Spacemasters now include fully multi-coated optics. I find no reference BAK4 prism on my product box, but again that now seems standard. Is it reasonable to assume that Bushnell Spacemasters today would exceed the performance of mine? Is it reasonable to assume that lower-priced BAK4 products (like the Alpen 728, the Bushnell Legend, or the Eagle Optics Denali) would offer superior performance when compared to my Spacemaster? |

Hi
No, not necessarily. It is true that technology has moved forward with better lens coatings and so on, but I'm quite sure your older version has multi-coating and Bak-4. I see no reason to trade your old version in for a newer model. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
