Would a Vortex Impact 25-75x70 or Burris XTS-2575 (25-75x70) Spotting Scope be sufficent for shooting range use at 100 to 300 yard distances with 223 cal. on paper targets?

If so, is one reportedly better than the other? I'm having a hard time finding information on these items.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

Sorry, we do not carry that model of Burris.

I would rate the Vortex as good to 200 yards or so, but 300 yards usually requires an ED scope such as the Bushnell Elite 20-60x80 ED Glass Spotting Scope 780080.

Hi Joanie,
Now that you do carry the Burris XTS-2575 25-75x70mm Xtreme Tactical Cassegrain Spotting Scope , have you had a chance to conduct any tests on it?
Also, what warranty does it have, what does it come with and what's its FOV?
Thanks,
Chris

HI
'
The Impact is a good choice if you need something compact, but it will not compare to a conventional porro prism spotting scope, such as the Skyline or Sandpiper in terms of optics. Do NOT expect great images at 75x. No scope at this price is going to handle that kind of magnification, well.

Includes
25-75x zoom eyepiece
70mm scope body
Deluxe padded carry case
Tabletop tripod with fine focus control
Ocular lens covers
Vortex VIP lifetime warranty

Thanks Joanie!

So I take it you recommend the Vortex over the Burris?

I understand that 75X is asking a lot of this little scope. What are your thoughts on it performance at lower magnifications, say 40-60X?

Many Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich

No scope at this price will be as sharp at 60x, let alone at 75x, as it is at 20x. 75x is definitely overkill. If you want that kind of performance, prices start at about $1400. I would, however, go with Vortex over the Burris Landmark on this one on the basis of optical quality. I think it is the better scope for the price.
