First let me say this is a great forum and I am glad I found it.
Others have asked about the same question, but I’ll ask anyways.
I am looking for an inexpensive scope in the $150 range, I already have a tripod.
Views will be of boats, builds, etc ½ - 1 mile distance during the day. It looks like the Celestron ultima 65 is a good bet, will the Celestron ultra 80 do that much more for my needs. Or any other recommend brands in this price range?
I have had good luck with Celestron in the past, (I have a 25 year old C 6 Newtonian)
Thanks for your advice. |

Hi
Gl;ad to help.
Yes, the Ultima 65 is a good choice and it will offer portability, but, all else equal, a larger scope, such as the Ultima 80 will handle higher magnifications a bit better. Be hard to beat either, though, in a spotting scope under $200. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
