I, also, just bought the Bushnell Banner Astro 400 telescope at a yard sale. It appears to have all of the parts, in the original box, but no manual. Did you ever get one for yours?

I have a Bushnell Banner Astro 400 model 78-5100 mannuel for what it is worth and it dose not help much at all. I am still unable to really understand how to use my telescope and muddle through figuring out all the details from how to put it together to what lenses do by myself. Unfortunatly I have very little idea what I am doing so ... sigh, I give up a lot.

I can only suggest contacting the manufacturer first (if they are still in business, you should be able to find their website or search for contact info on the Internet). You can try searching on the company's name and additional criteria like "home page", "web site", "contact us", etc. Often you will find links to the manufacturer's web site on retail sites that sell their products.

If that fails, then search the internet for anything to do with your scope's manufacturer and model number. You may want to truncate the model number to it's most basic form, i.e. if the model number is "M-240zlx", leave off the "zlx" and maybe even the "M"--often prefixes and suffixes differentiate between products for different countries, or special builds/packaging for specific retailers, but the user's manual may be the same for each. You don't want to arbitrarily limit your search. You can also add search criteria like "users manual", "owners manual", "PDF", etc., in the event you get a lot of hits.

Failing that, post messages on Forums like this in the hopes that someone reading might have the manual and be willing to provide a copy.

I have never failed to find a manual on the Internet, but sometimes it has taken a lot of time, or the manual was in a foreign language (but the pictures are still useful) or the manual was not free.
