Can you help a newbie out?

I am trying to decide between three binoculars:
Steiner Merlins 8 X 42
Zeiss Conquest 8 x 40
Leupold GR HD 8 X 42

Any help or other suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Hi

The Leupold Gold Ring HD is going to be the best choice, optically and is built very tough. I, personally, don't care for the way it handles, but, then, that's me. Be my first pick in terms of optics, though.

Hi

In that price range, I would also look at the Pentax DCF SP or, better yet, the DCF ED. Not going to do better, optically, than the DCF ED for the price.
