Hello

I am in Cyprus and planning to buy one Telescope and need help. With so many models coming up, its rather confusing and exceitement than anything else!

1. I can invest upto $400 - $500 including Accessories!
2. I need to know how and which brands / models I can carry as a baggage (hand baggage?) on flight! I intend to buy in US and bring it back home!
3. I am looking for motorized as well as manual options.
4. And atleast 4"+ !

Thanks in advance.

Hi

You should know that you will not have a warranty when you leave the US with any Meade or Celestron telescope you buy, here. Also, you are not going to get a complete telescope with mount, especially a 4" scope, as a carry on. If you want a complete scope, you are going to have to check it in baggage due to size.

I would try a small Maksutov, such as the Bushnell 100 Mak. it's going to be as small a 4" scope as you can buy.

Hi Joanie

Thanks for the reply. I am infact did a bit more study and may be willing to buy Celestron's NexStar 5 SE.

Well I understand the implications of warranty, but on the other hand what is your advice on taking this telescope along with me via checked in baggage - is it advisable at all to take it in as a checked in baggage or any other shipping method? Not sure if I can grab and go as a hand baggage Very Happy

Thanks
Ramana

Hi

One of the reasons we don't ship telescopes outside the US is the high rate of damage and costly return issues involved. You really are on your own on this one. I can't say baggage is going to be much better. Buy plenty of insurance, either way. Sorry.
