Lifeguard here...Looking for suggestions on polarized glasses for indoor use. Trying to find something that'd cut glare off the water.

Also, is this a good idea to begin with? I move constantly so I never have too much of a blind spot from the glare but it is a little disconcerting to know that I've got about a minute where I can't see the bottom in a section of the deep end. I'd hate to miss a body for lack of a piece of polarized glass.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

Controlling glare from reflections off water is the most common example of an application for polarized lenses. Along with lifeguards, other folks who are on the water, like boaters and people who fish, often prefer polarized.

Have you worn polarized? Do you know that they help you see through the deep end?

Polarized lens might have more of a darkening effect than non-polarized when worn inside and not looking outside.

Polarized lens usually cost more.

See our Polarized Sunglasses guide for more information.

For your active profession, I recommend a plastic frame and plastic lens for safety. A close-fitting wrap-around might stay in place better if there's an emergency and you have to wear them in water.

Bolle is known sunglasses designed for active lifestyles and sports. Bolle Sunglasses in the Snakes Collection have wrap-around styling. The Bolle Snakes Canebrake Sunglasses, Bolle Snakes Piraja Polarized Sunglasses and the Bolle Snakes Serpent Sun Glasses are available with polarized lens.
