Can scopes with illuminated reticles (when reduced to the lowest illumination setting)and set on the lowest magnification, be used for night viewing. I prefer the illuminated reticles that are available on the Nightforce 1-4X24 NXS and the IOR 1.1-4X26 illuminated scopes, as oppossed to the night vision compatible models of the Aimpoint and EoTech scopes. If anyone knows if the reticles will still be TOO bright when at the lowest setting? Might eye relief also be a problem?

Hi

What makes the EOTech 551/552 an NV compatible holo is the extra low reticle brightness settings not available on the 511/512. Unless your Nightforce is specifically designed with NV in mind, it is unlikely to have such extra-low settings.

I have seen a picture through a pvs14 and trijicon and it is not very good, a big bloom. The aimpoint m2 and m3 as well as the eotechs mentioned above are a good red dot sight to wqork with NVDs. I personally have the eotch 552 and the ainpoint m3 and both work great with my mini14...the eotech is by far the better of the 2 with its circle arount the dot...and a lot of nv brightness settings to choose from...look into these as alternatives
