A quick rule of thumb is that square faces take round frames and round faces take square frames. I think the second picture is an example of this with round frames on a square face.
An elongated face can accept larger lens.
On a bald head, the thickness of the frame is more pronounced. Matching with everything else you are wearing may be more of an issue with thicker frames. Think of how band-leader Paul Shaffer looks with different thickness of frames.
I think you will get the best advice by trying on glasses at a store with a friend. When you have the right sunglasses on, your friend will tell you.
What I like about the glasses in the second picture is the active styling in the Aviator design and the thin, wire frame. Aviators are hot now, and I think they are going to be the hottest for a few seasons to come. I like the Ray-Ban Sunglasses you selected which have Aviator styling. For more of this design, see our collection of Aviator Sunglasses.
You might have some fun and go with an over-sized.
