I've been considering the Yukon Digital Night Ranger 5x42 for some time now and am currently trying to sort out the video options. According to the brief manual, the output is 'EIA'. I've done some searching and it sounds like EIA is a component video standard but that doesn't tell me much.

Ultimately my goal is to get the output from the Night Ranger and play it back on a MacBook Pro. Apple computers (for whatever reason) don't have standard video inputs, relying on FireWire 400, FireWire 800 or USB 2.0.

Does anyone know if there is a straightforward way to accomplish what I'm after? If it's not possible, that would be handy to know too as I can drop the idea. Perhaps there is some kind of video converter box I'd need?

Any information appreciated.

Some Yukon literature describes the video out as EIA and some as CCIR...I'm not sure which is supported in the model currently shipping in the USA.

EIA means NTSC (American video standard)
CCIR means PAL (European video standard)

dpadams, unfortunately it seems like there is no easy solution in your case.
May be you have to try a different device with standard video inputs.
No other ideas so far...
