I recently bought an NVMT 2 3x42 and having tried it quickly in an area of low light (not completely black), I am not sure whether the unit has a fault. The On/Off button does not seem to affect what was seen through the eye piece, although it did switch the green LED on and off, and it did enable the IR transmitter to be activated (which worked). Is this normal ? I was able to see in low light which is what I expected from the unit, but surely not with the power switched off !

Cheers for any help/comments

Hi,

Gen 1 night vision always has a delay for the the tube to either warm up, or to fully discharge. Sometimes this delay can last for up to about a minutem but it is usually around 30 seconds. I have never seen this on a gen 2, but it's possible. You may want to give Yukon a call.

Indeed, there is such a delay because the charge remains in the tube for some time after the unit is deactivated. Typically this lasts up to several minutes so one has to be careful not to open the lens cap immediately if the unit is brought into a bright environment.

This feature is not found in Gen 2 units. The screen goes out immediately after the unit is off.
