Does any one know when Leupold changed their scope lenses? I am trying to get the most scope for the money on a used Leupold . Yesterday Steven L said that a VX II is the old Vari X III. Did the new VXIII
take a leap forward in clarity and visible light at dusk? I don't mind good used items. Which used or new Leupold is the best hunting scope for the money? For my poor eyes I need one good in low light at 300-500 yards.

Hi,

Yes, the current VX-III took several steps foerward with their index matched lenses and newer coatings to increase their low light performance and image resolution. There's nothing wrong with the current VX-II/old VX-III, but the newer VX-III is just brighter and has a slightly sharper image.
