|
|
Hi Joanie,
I'm ready to start digiscoping with my Kowa 883. I'm planning on using a canon image stabilized point & shoot camera. It seems that Kowa makes a special camera mount for this and that Alpen and others make universal mounts.
What is your opinion?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Keep in mind that all any digiscoping adapter does is hold the camera over the eyepiece. There is no optical function, whatsoever, to any digiscoping adapter. So long as the camera is firmly in position over the eyepiece, you are set.
Going the Kowa route gets you some fabulous machined adapters which offer the ultimate in stability (and price). Looks like you would need the DA10, plus an accessory bracket for your Canon that offers filter threads, then the appropriate Kowa AR ring. If I had the moeny, this is the way I would go. It's not only the best quality, it's the most compact.
You can always opt for a universal mount, such as the Alpen 706 if you are trying to save money. Won't be as convenient or as stable, but it will work. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
