|
|
| I've just purchased a new leupold VX-I scope and im having trouble been able to focus on the cross hairs and the target at the same time, ive had my eyes checked and the Optometrist said my eye sight was fine but i have a Convergence insufficiency. (The way i understand it, convergence is the way my i eyes converge together. ) But i cant really see how this would have anything to do with me using a scope, the scope eye relief has been adjusted, but still doesnt seem to make a difference, Can anyone help me out please, Other people can see through the scope fine. |

About the only thing I can suggest if you haven't tried it already would be to try looking through some of your friends scopes. Just doesn't seem logical that others can see through the scope just fine but not you. Let us know what you find out! When you try adjusting your scope don't be afraid to unscrew the eyepiece all the way out because it can't come off.

The crosshairs have their own focus adjust. the ocular end bell on that scope is made to be loosened up and adjusted in or out to accomodate the variation of peoples vision up to a certain point, typically +1 to -1 diopter range. People who are near sighted need to screw the end bell in tighter. People like me who are far sighted need to unscrew the endbell and bring it out further until the cross hairs are in focus. There is a locking ring on the end bell that has to be loosened first. Its there for the operator to be able to loosen it and adjust the end bell till the cross hairs are in focus. Just look up at some blue sky and concentrate on the crosshairs without being distracted by seeing something in the field of view to focus on. Adjust the end bell in or out until the cross hairs are nice sharp lines and not blurred or double lines.
My problem has always been that I needed to adjust the end bell so far out that it was coming off of the threads because I am about a +1.75 diopter. The Leupy VX I won't adjust that far I can tell you because I had one and couldn't bring it all the way in so I had to switch to something else.
If you run that ocular end bell all the way in and out and can't get it to focus the cross hairs for you. Start looking at the Bushnell series line with the fast focus eyepieces because their diopter range of adjustment is much greater than that of the older Leupy line.
For people who have good vision and don't need glasses to adjust for near sightedness or farsightedness it is perfectly normal for them to pick up any new scope where the setting is at zero and be able to see the cross hairs in focus just fine. So the fact that other people don't have a problem and you do is not surprising at all. that's why every end bell has some type of adjustment range for different people from near sighted to far sighted. Its just that the older style type scopes just don't have enough of a range for some of us.
You can go into most gun stores that sell rifle scopes and I am sure they will have a Bushnell in the counter that has the fast focus eyepiece and you can give it a quick turn one way or the other and instantly see the cross hair focus adjust, and then you will see what I am talking about. |

Thanks for the replys, i have looked through other scopes, i,ve got another leupold VX-II which i dont seem to have any trouble looking through, ill have to have more of a play with the eye releif on the other scope, but i can get it so i can see the cross hairs clearly into the sky but as soon as i try and focus on a target the cross hairs go fuzzy. |

the short answer is its not going to work for you send it back. Get a scope with the fast focus eyepiece from Bushnell or another company that makes them. I personally have had much better luck being able to focus everything with Bushnell and Zeiss scopes. Not that there aren't others out there, but these with the wide diopter range fast focus eyepieces seem to work well for me, one quick turn of the focus ring and everything is good.
One more thing. If you were bifocals or progressive lenses when you shoot you will probably have a problem. And you may not see it through all scopes but you will have a problem. |
