Looking for good quality compact binos. Prefer waterproof and roof prism, preferably 8x20 and keeping price around $400 or under. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Definitely my vote would be for the Nikon Premier LX 8x20 or the Zeiss Victory 8x20. Both great premium compacts. I'd give slight edge to the Nikon for optics, but the Zeiss gets the nod for handling. Have owned and used both.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at both those, but they may be a bit out of my price range right now. Any other suggestions in the $300 to $400 range?

Hi

Both of those are a touch over $400 and are well worth skipping a lunch or two. Dropping down in price gets you a big drop in performance on a compact at this price point.

Try the Steiner Wildlife or Brunton Eterna

Luckily I am a big eater, so skipping a lunch or two may make up the difference by quite a bit... Laughing

Thanks for the advice, I am leaning toward the Zeiss right now since I see youre having a sale on them. Unless you can convince me the difference in price from the Nikons is not worth it.

Hi

Good for you. No there is not enough difference, optically. Go for the better buy.
